Olivier von Schulthess is not just another collector. He is a Schweizer Sammler, a Swiss collector. Gallery owners, and of coarse artists, dream of such collectors. Christian Holzmann, an artist from Bremen, was dreaming pf a Swiss collector until late May 2010. But he had already had one as par of his artistic life since 2008, when Olivier von Schulthess bought twelve of his drawings at the SCOPE in London. “Funnily enough”, that very same Swiss collector arrived again a short time later, to purchase the same drawings from the same gallery.
In the art business, anything is possible: thanks in part to the creativity of those art marketers who have the extreme finesse necessary to produce and manage precarious situations of which neither artist nor collector suspect the slightest. This book will fill us in on their day-to-day dealings and all the stage some they create. Nonetheless, in the closing trailer of this arthouse film we see the Swiss collector with his Swiss composure, and invariably hear him say to the Bremer artist, “This is the beginning of a magnificent friendship”.
